About Selax The word “selah” is found over 70 times in the book of Psalms. (It is not included in many older Russian translations of the Bible, but it can be found in most of the newer Russian translations). The meaning of “selah” is known, it comes from the primary word "salal" which means 'to lift up' or 'cast up.' And yet, there remains a mystery surrounding exactly 'how' the word was originally used. It is not a part of the song, rather it is a 'sign,' a 'signal,' to those who sung the Psalms and to the musicians who accompany the Psalms. It was a command to somehow pause and consider what was being sung. This is a good admonition to us today. Let all those who sing the new songs of Praise to God do just that - let each of us 'pause' and 'consider' the One to Whom we sing our praises and prayers. And in this, there is still 'mystery' today. The Russian word is translated Celax. The English word is translated Selah. Selax then is a combination of the Russian and English translations. How we work Selax searches for different expressions of contemporary Christian music, primarily throughout the 11 time zones of the former Soviet Union. Selax handles production in its studio, on site in local churches, and with the help of special friends throughout the world!
